Please make sure you have all written tests taken and passed along with being current.

CDL Learner's Permit Endorsement must be added on your license before you call

to make an appointment.  (The Learner's Permit can be obtained by taking the General

Knowledge test alone)

3 Tests to take for a Class A (tractor & trailer) license:

            General Knowledge

            Combination (less than 90 days old - not needed for Class B)

            Airbrakes (less than 90 days old)

1 Test to take for a D1 (farmer's) license:

            Common Knowledge (50 questions)

After you have passed the tests above, ask for the $12 learner’s permit (good for

6 months and can be renewed one time after obtaining, if both expires, you

will have a two year waiting period before you can obtain another one). 

That makes you legal to drive our truck, or anyone else’s, if you are with a person

who has a current CDL License.

The written tests can be taken daily wherever you can find a DOT office open.  There is no fee to take the tests, but make sure when you go to take them that you have your

ORIGINAL Social Security Card or they will not let you take the tests.  We tell

everyone to just go in and take the test without studying.  We know you won’t pass,

but it gives you an idea of what is on the test and what the important things are to

know, then go home and study the book.

After you pass your tests, call us to make an appointment.  We are usually booked

up one week ahead.  Make sure that when you come to train with us that your

Combination and Air Brakes written tests are less than 90 days old and your

learner’s permit is less than six months old. 

We have two slots for training, 8:00 am to noon & 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm (training

time depends on how much training is needed per student).  Testing the day

after your training (Tuesday and Thursday) with retakes done on Fridays.  Please

call for an appointment at least one week in advance before you would like to

be scheduled.  We train in Humboldt, Iowa at 1410 North 10^th Avenue (Hwy 3)

during the winter months and during the spring, summer, and fall we train in

Fort Dodge at the DOT parking lot.  Testing is always done in Fort Dodge, Iowa

at the Driver's License Station.

Our trainer will meet you at the DOT Office in Fort Dodge the next morning at

7:30 am.  The trainer will take you on the actual DOT route and go over any last

minute questions you may have for him.  The DOT does not allow appointments it

 is “First Come, First Serve.”  Our trainer will be there with you when the doors open

to sign up for the test, he will stay down there until the last person is done testing. 

You will test in the same truck and trailer you trained in.

We have a special arrangement with Fort Dodge Inn in Fort Dodge for $36 per night,

tax included, for one person and $46.00 per night, tax included, for two people. If

you want to stay in Fort Dodge, please let us know when you come to train so we

can make reservations for you.
